Hagerty Statement on House Impeachment Vote

January 13, 2021

NASHVILLE – United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) today released the following statement regarding the U.S. House of Representatives vote for impeachment:

“The U.S. House of Representatives and Speaker Pelosi have conducted no hearings and taken no testimony to fully understand what occurred last week at the U.S. Capitol, which I continue to condemn strongly. Instead they are choosing a rush to judgment and instant impeachment before we know all of the facts. As a Senator, I have a duty to examine all of the evidence, which I will do, but I have significant concerns with the timing of all of this with just seven days to go in the President’s term — a transfer of power he has fully committed to. The actions by the House today will only further divide us when this should be a time of national healing.”
