Hagerty Statement on Debt Ceiling

October 7, 2021

WASHINGTON—United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) today opposed legislation increasing the nation’s debt ceiling and released the following statement:

“As long as President Joe Biden and Democrats are focused solely on radical tax-and-spend sprees that will worsen rising inflation and transform this country toward big-government socialism, I will not bail them out. They are not doing their jobs, and I won’t vote to allow them to light the fuse on more partisan spending. Nearly $30,000,000,000,000 in debt, it is beyond time to get our fiscal house in order—if we don’t, the consequences for our children and grandchildren will be catastrophic.”
